making a mountain out of a mole-

Dear fellow country men, dear team anna, dear parliamentarians, As i see all the news channels flooded with minute by minute updates and details of this mass hysterical movement called indians against corruption and we support anna hazare, i cannot stop myself from getting upset and angry at the same time. I am upset because i am tired of watching the same visuals on each channel, hear every second person talk about the same event, and read every second article in the newspaper on this movement which is being termed as the next best revolution india has ever witnessed. I feel sad for the media, mainly for the hundreds of cameramen who are literally spending nights and days trying to capture the images which would give their bosses better trp's. I feel sad for Mr Manmohan Singh and his entire family, i am sure he would be recalling that dreadful day when he accepted to be appointed the prime minister of this country. All this while, he has been made a scapegoat and getting all bl

chapter two- the week bygone

31st July 2o11  2.pm. "One week has passed since the last long conversation they had exact 7 days before today. As she looks at the clock strike 2pm, she cant stop looking at her cellphone to ring and show  his name again. The past one week went by rather uneventful. A little solace came with the fact that this time around, they did manage to have small conversations few  times in the week. At first, it was on monday when he called to tell her he had received the courier she had sent him. The talk lasted precise 2minutes. But they did hear each others' voices. And she was happy he liked the gift too. The next day she got to know from his friend that he had paid him a visit and though not completely fine, yet he was doing ok. He seemed very very hurt and shocked at the fact that this time it should have been him passing with flying colours. But god always has some plan for everyone. This was his extreme step and though in a bad shape, yet only his determination was keeping

When days turn into years....

when days turn into years…                           (fiction) 24th July 2011 4.oo.p.m. “She had kept the cell phone switched off to avoid the temptation of calling him or expecting his call to come. People who knew her were finding it weird to find her fone unreachable but she did not really feel like owing any explanation to them. But being a weekend, a part of her had an intuition he would call. And just when she had switched it on and was going through the missed calls messages in the inbox, his name popped up on the screen. There it was, finally after 3 days of anticipation she would hear his voice again. The last she heard from him was on Thursday night and they had a small conversation but enough to enable her atleast a sound sleep. He was doing fine, motivated and determined to work harder again. Failure does many things to many people. Few are good, most are bad. And in his case, she was not really expecting him to rise up again so soon. But he had and it was evident whi

Pennies from heaven

Pennies from heaven by Karan Thapar, Hindustan Times April 09, 2011 I've done a little test to see how right or wrong my views can be, and I'm delighted to tell you that, at least in this one instance, I'm almost spot on. I sent some 50 different people — journalists, politicians, authors, ambassadors, civil servants, doctors, elderly aunts, etc — an sms outlining my response to the way state governments have competed with each other to shower gifts on our World Cup winning cricketers. To my pleasant surprise, almost everyone responded readily, if not also immediately. So, now, I'm pretty confident I know how most people think! The sms I sent read: "What do you make of this competition to give money or land or houses to the team? I find it questionable if not distasteful. What's your view?" Three things stand out about the responses I received. First, practically everyone replied. This has rarely happened before. So, clearly, this i

""can we stop treating an indo-pak cricket match as a war?"""

""can we stop treating an indo-pak cricket match as a war?""" 2nd April 2011 is going to go down in history as one of those nights when at 10.40pm the country of india came to a standstill, every eye was on the screen waiting for dhoni to finish off the match. and finish off with style he did. The moment he hit that powerful six, it was as if we had witnessed god come down on earth to hand over the cup to us. and the euphoria after that continues to this day as i writethis from my office desk. To celebrate India;s win, i got a dupatta tri-coloured and wore it throughout the second innings since sachin got out. I am sure like me, every Indian did as many "totkas" as possible to make india chase down that score. We supported them till the last ball. And today wearing colours of the flag in my dress makes me feel as proud as i can be. But, few days ago, i was being hated by everyone who knew me. The reason being, that i was maybe among the few
